Hardy's Muscat Cask
Originally brought to Australian shores by Sir Thomas Hardy 150 years ago containing French Brandy with the view of maturing the Hardy families first vintages of Muscat. Emptied of 50 year old brandy in 1915 the first vintage of Hardy’s Muscat was decanted a century later to immediately make its way to our distillery for filling. A truly rare and extraordinary cask.
The nose speaks true to the casks history, providing aromas of dark toffee, brandy soaked fruit cake and burnt orange. The palate is full and soft, continuing the theme of gentle spice, with hints of cola and buttery raisin pudding. It’s thick and oily viscosity offers amazing depth and complexity, astonishing in its balance. Not a dram to serve chilled, it explodes with warmth and is one of the creamiest malt we’ve produced.
